Twenty-five answers.

  1. 01What is Nexus Lab?

Nexus Lab is the operating arm of BAE Ventures. We design and run innovation programs for Travel, Tourism & Hospitality companies, turning AI, Digital and Data into capability that the operation actually uses.

  2. 02How is Nexus Lab different from a traditional consultancy?

We don't deliver decks. We run programs end-to-end across Processes, Technology and People, with success metrics agreed upfront and ownership transferred to your team. If your people can't run it on Monday, we don't consider the work done.

  3. 03Who is Nexus Lab for?

Operating companies in Travel, Tourism & Hospitality: hotel groups, tour operators, DMCs, OTAs, mobility providers and experience brands. Companies that want to change how they work, beyond buying more software.

  4. 04What is the relationship between Nexus Lab and BAE Ventures?

BAE Ventures is a venture capital firm focused exclusively on Travel, Tourism & Hospitality. Nexus Lab is one of three corporate-innovation instruments inside BAE, alongside the Corporate Venture Builder and Corporate Venture Capital arms. It carries the same sector intelligence and network into operating companies.

  5. 05What does an innovation program at Nexus Lab include?

Assessment, curation, implementation and handover. We work three axes in parallel (Processes, Technology, People), with quick wins early, pilots in the first months, and a transfer of capability so the program continues without us.

  6. 06What are the three axes of the Nexus Lab method?

Processes: mapping, redesign and automation of what already exists. Technology: vendor-neutral curation of AI, Digital and Data. People: upskilling, change management and internal innovation champions. A program only sticks when all three move together.

  7. 07How long does the Assessment take?

The AI, Digital & Data Assessment is time-boxed at two weeks. Stakeholder interviews and systems audit in week 1; synthesis and prioritised report in week 2. The output is an Assessment Report with quick wins identified and a recommendation on whether a Program should follow.

  8. 08How long does a full Nexus Lab program last?

The pace adapts to the size and maturity of each company. Typically three to nine months from kickoff to handover. The sequence is fixed: understand before proposing, test before scaling, enable before leaving.

  9. 09Does Nexus Lab build software?

We build only what is necessary and only when no fit-for-purpose solution exists. Most of the value comes from reorganising what already exists, integrating tools you already own, and curating the right partners. Code is a last resort.

  10. 10Is Nexus Lab vendor-neutral?

Yes. We have no commercial ties to any technology vendor or software platform. Curation is done against your context.

  11. 11How does Nexus Lab use AI in Travel, Tourism & Hospitality?

AI is treated as a tool. We apply machine learning and generative AI to specific business-grade use cases: pricing, demand forecasting, guest personalisation, operations automation, content generation. Only where it earns its place against a measurable KPI.

  12. 12What is the Nexus Lab Data Hub?

A data architecture pattern we deploy when fragmented data is the bottleneck. It brings collection, treatment and integration of operational, commercial and customer data into a single layer your teams can actually use.

  13. 13Where is Nexus Lab based and where do you work?

Nexus Lab operates globally through the BAE Ventures network, with current focus on Iberia, Europe and Brazil. Engagements are run remotely with on-site phases at your operation when the work requires it.

  14. 14What languages does Nexus Lab work in?

English by default, Portuguese and Spanish on request. Programs and deliverables are produced in the working language of your team.

  15. 15What does “capability that stays” mean?

It means innovation as an internal process. Methodology, tooling, ownership and trained people remain inside your organisation when we leave, and continue to ship after we're gone.

  16. 16Does Nexus Lab replace internal teams?

No. We embed alongside internal teams, do the work with them, and hand the operating model back. Permanent transformation belongs to the people who run the business every day.

  17. 17How is the success of a Nexus Lab program measured?

Metrics are agreed before any work begins, tied to the KPIs that matter to your P&L. Pilots have measurable outcomes. The final phase delivers an internal innovation operating model with its own scorecard.

  18. 18What is the AI, Digital & Data Assessment?

The AI, Digital & Data Assessment is the paid first phase: a scoped, two-part read of your operation. Part one looks at AI and Digital (your website, customer-facing surfaces, content and AEO posture); part two looks at AI and Data (infrastructure, data flows, integrations). It closes with a strategic proposal across AI, Digital and Data. Fixed price, time-boxed. It produces a prioritised report and a recommendation on whether, and how, a full Program should follow.

  19. 19How is Nexus Lab different from the CVB and CVC arms of BAE Ventures?

The Corporate Venture Builder co-creates new companies adjacent to your core. The Corporate Venture Capital arm invests in Travel, Tourism & Hospitality startups with proven product-market fit. Nexus Lab transforms the existing operation. Same firm, same sector. The right instrument depends on the problem you're trying to solve.

  20. 20Which sectors within Travel, Tourism & Hospitality do you work with?

Hotel groups and chains, tour operators, DMCs, OTAs and travel marketplaces, mobility providers, experiences and attractions, MICE, and adjacent service providers across the value chain.

  21. 21How does Nexus Lab handle confidentiality and data?

All engagements operate under mutual NDAs. Data access is scoped to what the program requires and governed by agreed protocols. We don't reuse client data, models or material outside the engagement that produced it.

  22. 22How does pricing work?

Two phases. The AI, Digital & Data Assessment is fixed-price and time-boxed. The Program that follows (if it follows) is priced against scope and outcomes, with a defined budget envelope agreed before work begins.

  23. 23Can Nexus Lab work with the technology stack we already have?

Yes, and we usually do. The first move is almost always to integrate, automate or re-deploy what's already in place before recommending anything new. Replacement is a last resort.

  24. 24What happens after the program ends?

Methodology, tooling, dashboards and ownership transfer to your organisation. We're available for follow-up advisory or new programs, but the operating model stands on its own.

  25. 25How do we start a conversation with Nexus Lab?

It begins with a free website audit, sent within 1–2 business days. If you want to go deeper, a 30-minute Intro Call — no formal pitch, no long deck. We talk about your operation, your bottlenecks, and where AI, Digital or Data could earn their place. If an AI, Digital & Data Assessment fits, we propose one — fixed price, time-boxed, and a complete deliverable on its own. After the Assessment, you decide if a Program follows.
